"Fairytale Wedding on Dark Island"
<back>
To be wed in a castle in the 1000 Islands is magical, but to married there for free is unbelievable.

Alicia Jessmer of Plattsburgh, NY had a dream: to be married at Singer Castle. She had first seen it in the 2000 movie, The Skulls , and fell in love with its mystery and grandeur. She and her boyfriend, SPC Zachery W. Sirk, originally from Urbana, MD, and who is stationed with the 10 th Mountain Division at Fort Drum as a medic with the 2 nd Brigade, visited the castle in June 2004, and seeing it in person made them fascinated all the more. When he proposed to her in December on R&R from his second tour of duty in Iraq, after she recovered from the excitement, he told her to contact the castle and see if she could make their dream a reality: to have their wedding ceremony on the grounds of Dark Island.

Ms. Jessmer, who works for the North Country Cultural Center of the Arts in Plattsburgh, had few illusions. Knowing that military people don't make much money, she was apprehensive about whether or not they could afford to have their wedding day celebrated at Singer Castle. When the owners of Singer Castle were contacted in early 2005, however, they felt differently. To honor our military personnel who serve unflinchingly, they offered use of the grounds and the magnificent Luxury Suite to the couple for one night – free.

So at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 30, the young couple stated their vows in front of friends and family on the Castle Greens of the magnificent Singer Castle. After two years of overseas duty, and a half-year of anticipation, their new lives together began – at a castle where beauty and tranquility will hopefully be a harbinger of things to come. Singer Castle is open daily from 10:00AM to 5:00PM for guided tours, and private boaters are welcome. For more information, call (877) 327-5475 or visit the castle website at www.singercastle.com .
