Singer Castle on Dark Island began their first full season of operation with visitors from the past. Beautiful Singer Castle on Dark Island began its first full season of tours in early May with charter groups from the St. Lawrence Cruise Lines. The cruise ship "Empress" docked at the castle and visitors all dressed in early 1900's clothing, complete with top hats, tiara's and gowns, paved the way for a fun and festive season.

Singer Castle will be open from late May to early October. Early season of May 22nd to June 24th the Castle will be open on Thursdays, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays only. From June 24th to September 7th, the castle will be open 7 days a week and will offer tours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM departing on the hour. Cost for the 45-minute guided tour is $12/adult US, $9/Senior US, $5/Children US, and children under 6 are our guest. Group discounts are available and ticket packages are available through boat lines.

The 45-minute guided tours offer a glimpse of life in the early 1900's with a tour of all 4 floors of the Castle including viewing of many of the secret passageways and hidden surprises. The Castle, located on Dark Island, was the "hunting lodge" of Frederick Bourne, who was the 4th president of Singer Sewing Machine. Charters to the Castle are welcomed 7-days a week.

Special program offering includes Medieval Nights, a tour of the secret passageways, turret dungeon, underground vault and tunnels not seen on the regular tour route. Murder Mystery will also be offered on select evenings. Both these special programs are by reservation only and with limited numbers. To enhance the historical experience of our guests, we offer new this year, the Dark Island Museum and Gift Shop located in Chippewa Bay. This Museum is a tribute to the Bourne Family and a snapshot of river life and entertaining during the Guided Age of the early 1900's. The museum will be opening later in the season to coincide with the boat shuttle from Chippewa Bay.
